3 bewitching Broadway divas delight gala guests with showstoppers
In glittering galas for Laguna Playhouse and North Coast Rep, three dazzling divas brought down the house down singing iconic Broadway hits like "All That Jazz," "Cabaret," "You Gotta Get a Gimmick," and "Defying Gravity." ASHLEY BLANCHET originated the role of Little Eva in Beautiful: the Carole King Musical, appearing on the Grammy-winning Original Cast Recording as well as reprising her role for the Broadway National Tour. Also on Broadway: Frozen (u/s Elsa) where she was the first Black actress to play the role, Waitress (Dawn) with Sara Bareilles, Annie (Star to Be, New Broadway Cast Recording), and Memphis (Felicia u/s). ANGELA INGERSOLL received an Emmy Award nomination for her performance in the PBS television broadcast of her concert Get Happy: Angela Ingersoll Sings Judy Garland. She headlines stages nationwide performing the show live. An award-winning actor, she also won acclaim starring as Judy Garland in End of the Rainbow, receiving Chicago's Jeff Award, a BroadwayWorld Award, and Los Angeles Times Woman of the Year in Theatre.
